Power Your Thoughts Inspiration.
The inspiration for what I do stems from two of my favourite quotes:
English philosopher James Allen wrote: “As a man thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains.”
and
Mark Twain wrote that life “consists mainly of the storm of thoughts that is forever blowing through one's head.”
These quotes revolve around the simple idea that we are what we think, meaning our thoughts are powerful and create our experiences. In isolation, that doesn’t sound harmful, and in fact, stray thoughts that we have a few times, are fleeting. However, when many of our thoughts are negative or self-defeating, they can become all consuming, and negatively influence our reactions, attitudes, and perception of our world.
When we're unhappy about something in our life, we tend to assume that change can begin from the outside. We might do things, buy things, avoid things, and/or consume things, thinking we'll feel better and that our lives will be better. These actions, however, are more band-aid solutions that can leave us feeling stuck in a cycle of inner turmoil.
While our environment serves as an important factor in improving different parts of our lives, it does not address the root cause of our challenges and so, unhelpful patterns continue.
To work towards achieving our goals and creating lasting positive change, I believe that most of the work needs to come from within.
